SCRANTON – A Dalton woman is suing her employer after she was allegedly terminated because of her pregnancy.

Wendy Wilson filed a complaint on Oct. 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against the Commonwealth Health Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton, alleging violations of the Pregnancy Discrimination Act and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.

According to the complaint, Wilson, an employee of the defendant, was hired in July 2014 as a technician and nurse's aide. During her time at the hospital, Wilson alleges she consulted the medical specialists about her own pregnancy as was given work restrictions. After being examined and given a due date, Wilson was confronted by her supervisor and told that the restrictions could not be accommodated and she was terminated, but told she would be able to reapply for her position after her pregnancy, the complaint states. Wilson is suing the defendant, claiming that such treatment was a violation of discrimination laws.

Wilson is seeking compensation for all damages and anguish suffered. She is being represented by Matthew Slocum and Arianne Slocum of The Slocum Firm in Scranton.
