PHILADELPHIA -- A woman is suing her former employer, alleging it discriminated against her because of her pregnancy.
Kaylee Cox filed a complaint Nov. 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Greenwood Gaming Services Inc., claiming she was unfairly discriminated against.
Cox began her employment with Greenwood when she was three to four months into her pregnancy, although she did not inform the employer of the pregnancy at this time.
Because of complications that followed, Cox told the defendant about her pregnancy, informing the company that she would need to take time off work to accommodate her pregnancy.
After this, Cox claims she was treated in a disrespectful fashion by her supervisors, and was finally terminated after an incident in which she fainted at work.
Cox is suing Greenwood Gaming for their failure to comply with anti-discrimination laws.
She seeks compensation for all pay and benefits lost through her termination, as well as all legal fees and damages. She is being represented by Ari. R. Karpf of Karpf Karpf and Cerutti PC in Bensalem.
