Woman alleges she was fired because of her race

Terminate

PENNSYLVANIA—A woman is suing her employer following her demotion and termination, alleging that it was because of her race.

Brooke Jeffress filed a complaint on Nov. 27in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Ocwen Financial Corporation claiming that she was discriminated against because of her race.

Jeffress began to work for Ocwen in June of 2002 and was the Manager of Treasury Operations. Until 2013, Jeffress was under the supervision of a black individual and was treated with respect. In Oct. 2013, the plaintiff's new supervisor, Mr. Neufield, began to lash out at Jeffress, demoting her and eventually terminating her employment in March 2014. Jeffress purports that it was illegal for Neufield to discriminate against her because of her race, and she is suing the corporation for its violation.

Jeffress seeks compensation for all legal, financial and employment damages suffered. She is represented by Kevin Console of the Console Law Offices, LLC in Philadelphia.
