PHILADELPHIA – A federal labor agency is suing a corporation alleging that it owes money for back pay from a previous settlement.

The National Labor Relations Board filed a complaint on Sept. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Life Safety Group LLC, alleging that the corporation failed to make contractual payments.

On Oct. 25, 2013, the plaintiff filed a formal complaint against the defendant after the defendant allegedly refused to hire certain applicants because of their activity in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 163, the complaint states. On Jan. 24, 2014, the plaintiff and defendant signed an agreement, in which the defendant agreed to compensate the applicants for back pay. The plaintiff is now suing Life Safety Group for its failure to complete agreed-upon payments.

The plaintiff is seeking $16,441.60 for all damages suffered and all due back pay. It is represented by Patricia Garber of National Labor Relations Board in Philadelphia.
