PHILADELPHIA – A photographer is suing McGraw-Hill Education Holdings LLC alleging violation of copyright.

George Steinmetz filed a complaint Dec. 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against McGraw-Hill Global Education Holdings LLC and McGraw-Hill School Education Holdings LLC, alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, Steinmetz is the owner of photographs that were used by McGraw-Hill from 1997 to 2010. As per the copyright and agreement between the plaintiff and defendant, McGraw-Hill would be permitted to use a specific number of photographs, in a certain type of publication and in a certain global area, the complaint states. However, McGraw-Hill violated these contract terms, the suit claims.

Steinmetz is seeking compensation for court costs, damages and lost profits. He is represented by Maurice Harmon of Harmon and Seidman LLC in New Hope.
