Woman sues employer over allegations of sexual harassment

Harassment hand

PHILADELPHIA – A Croydon woman is suing her former employer after she alleges that she was the subject of sexual harassment on multiple occasions.

Crystal Morris filed a complaint on Jan. 4 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Toll Bros. Inc. and TIS Logistics Inc., alleging violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, wrongful termination and a hostile work environment.

According to the complaint, Morris was hired by the defendant as a logistics assistant and began work in 2013. After beginning her employment, the complaint states that Morris' co-worker exposed himself to the plaintiff, after which she complained to her supervisor, Andrew Shaffer, and afterward filed a complaint of sexual harassment. The response from Toll was allegedly ineffective and there was no discipline towards the co-worker, the complaint states. Following this incident, Shaffer began to retaliate against Morris, as the suit says, and his treatment allegedly escalated to touching her inappropriately. Morris was allegedly terminated on Oct. 1, 2014.

Morris seeks compensatory damages, as well as legal fees and back pay. She is represented by Thaddeus P. Mikulski Jr. of the Law Offices of Thaddeus P. Mikulski Jr. in Pennington.
