PITTSBURGH — A former employee is suing a Moon Township company, alleging unfair treatment and termination, and racial discrimination.
John P. Gomez of Pittsburgh filed a complaint on June 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against ServiceLink Inc, alleging racial discrimination.
According to the complaint, Gomez was hired for an account executive management position on March 27, 2013, by ServiceLink and told he would be promoted to curative manager after 90 days of training. The suit states as the only African-American on the management team, the plaintiff was changed from a salaried to hourly classification in April 2013, due to his ethnicity, although the reason stated was the quantity of his hours.
Several employees with less seniority were promoted, the lawsuit states, and Gomez complained of offensive treatment, such as harassment, and write-ups, as well as demotion and failure to promote. On October 10, 2014, after filing a race and national discrimination survey, the plaintiff was fired, the suit says.
Gomez seeks damages for reinstatement, lost wages, benefits, punitive damages and legal fees. He is represented by attorneys Samuel J. Cordes and Jessica B. Michael of Samuel J. Cordes & Associates in Pittsburgh.
