PHILADELPHIA — A Cherry Hills man is suing a Bryn Mawr business, alleging unlawful termination.
Michael Raskind filed a lawsuit Feb. 8 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Resources for Human Development Inc, alleging unlawful discrimination and violation Civil Rights Act of 1964.
According to the complaint, Raskind was a unit director at the Lower Merion Counseling Center from November 2013 until March 2015. The suit says Raskind requested and was approved for time off to observe certain religious holidays.
Following his positive performance evaluations, however, the plaintiff received threats after his approved absence for the Jewish holiday and began to feel retaliation in the workplace, which he complained about, the lawsuit states.
He received two written notices in December 2014 about his poor work performance, the suit says, and on Feb. 23, 2015, the plaintiff was approached by an individual who insulted him verbally. Raskind was terminated March 23, 2015, the suit says.
The plaintiff alleges loss of pay and benefits.
Raskind seeks damages for violation of Title VII and PHRA, permanent injunction of defendant and attorney fees, plus a jury trial. He is represented by attorney Garen Meguerian of Paoli.
