PHILADELPHIA — A Chester woman is suing Aetna, alleging her termination was an act of racial discrimination.
Renee Domurad of Chester filed a lawsuit June 30 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Aetna Inc, alleging racial discrimination.
According to the complaint, Dormurad was employed by the defendant as a paralegal, beginning in 1989. The suit states in 2010 she complained of racial discrimination, and in August 2013 she was moved to a different sub-department and began to suffer under the supervision of Christin Basset.
The suit says a Caucasian male with less experience than the plaintiff was trained and received $20,000 more than her, and in December 2013, Domurad was terminated due to her previous complaint regarding racially disparate treatment.
Dormurad seeks damages for economic, non-economic and punitive damages, as well as attorney fees, court costs and other relief. She is represented by attorney Christopher J. Delgaizo of Kraemer Manes & Associates LLC in King of Prussia.
