Man claims he was fired for taking medical leave

PITTSBURGH — A Greensburg man is suing a healthcare solutions company over claims it unlawfully terminated his employment for taking medical leave.

Cameron Faylor filed a lawsuit March 16 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Capital Healthcare Solutions, alleging violations of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

The suit states Faylor began his employment with Capital Healthcare in October 2014, earning $80,000 per year as a talent acquisition manager.

On Dec. 4, 2015, the suit states, Faylor suffered severe pain in his abdomen and was diagnosed with kidney stones.

Faylor's doctor instructed him not to return to work until the stones passed, according to the suit by Faylor, who alleges he kept his boss informed of his condition throughout his leave.

When Faylor returned to work on Dec. 10, 2015, two managers allegedly met with him and told him he was being terminated due to "performance issues."

Faylor claims he was terminated for taking FMLA-qualified leave.

Faylor seeks to recover lost front and back pay, lost wages and other benefits, compensatory damages, liquidated or punitive damages, legal fees, and court costs. He is represented by attorney Kayla H. Drum of Kraemer Manes & Associates in Pittsburgh.
