PHILADELPHIA — An accountant is suing Montgomery County Intermediate Unit, a nonprofit organization, citing alleged disability discrimination and hostile work environment.

Melanie S. Conrad of Boyertown filed a complaint on April 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Montgomery County Intermediate Unit alleging that the nonprofit organization harassed her and violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, in 2011, she took time off work for a combination of physical and psychological problems. Despite years of good performance, she claims, she was harassed by her immediate superior when she reported back to work, was denied reasonable accommodations and was "shouted out of work."

The plaintiff seeks back pay; front pay; compensation for emotional distress, mental anguish, pain and suffering, inconvenience, humiliation, loss of enjoyment in life; liquidated damages; punitive damages; reasonable attorney's fees and costs; and all such other relief that this Court deems just, equitable and proper. She is represented by Jonathan B. Young of E. Kenneth Nyce Law Office in Boyertown.
