PHILADELPHIA — An African-American woman is suing Dental Care Alliance LLC, an employer, citing alleged hostile work environment and racial discrimination.
Erica Caldwell filed a complaint on April 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Dental Care Alliance LLC, alleging that the employer violated the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she has been harmed by a supervisor's campaign of discrimination and harassment based on her race. As a result, she has sustained permanent and irreparable harm, she says. The plaintiff holds Dental Care Alliance LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to conduct an investigation or take steps to cause the discriminatory treatment to cease and subjected her to a hostile work environment.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for lost wages and benefits, punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of suit and attorney's fees and such other relief as is deemed just and proper. She is represented by Sydney L. Gold of Sydney L. Gold & Associates PC in Philadelphia.
