Woman seeks payment from Government Employees Insurance Company

Insurance 02

PHILADELPHIA — A woman is suing Government Employees Insurance Company, her automobile insurer, seeking payment per the underinsured motorist provision of her policy.

Melissa Carandang filed a complaint on May 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendant alleging that Jason Nemec operated his vehicle in a negligent and/or careless manner.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on September 2013, she was injured when her vehicle was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by Nemec. The plaintiff seeks payment from the defendant for damages not covered by Nemec's insurance policy.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $75,000, plus all costs and other relief the court deems necessary. She is represented by Marc I. Simon of Simon & Simon PC in Philadelphia.
