PHILADELPHIA — A woman is suing the United States of America, in care of the attorney general in Washington and the civil process clerk at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Philadelphia, alleging negligence, insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries and violation of federal law.
Wendy C. Hartzell filed a complaint on May 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendant, alleging that a federal government employee driving a government-owned vehicle failed to properly control the vehicle.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 11, 2013, she sustained physical injuries when the government vehicle rear-ended another vehicle, causing the second vehicle to collide with hers. The plaintiff holds the government responsible because the defendant's employee allegedly failed to exercise caution while operating a vehicle, causing a collision and injuries to the plaintiff.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $150,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Harold J.J. DeWalt, Jr. of Harold J.J. DeWalt, Jr., Esquire in Nazareth.
