PHILADELPHIA — An insurance firm and its insured parties are suing Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc., d/b/a Lexus, and Wilkie Lexus, citing alleged liability and negligence.

State Farm Fire & Casualty Insurance a/s/o Gi S. An and Nam Lee An filed a complaint on Aug. 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants, alleging that they manufactured and distributed a defective vehicle that caused damages to plaintiffs' property.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Jan. 1, 2015, Gi S. An and Nam Lee An suffered damages to their home and property because of a fire that originated from their newly serviced vehicle. The plaintiff hold the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to properly inspect the vehicle for any defects before handing it over to the plaintiffs.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $75,000 plus interest, damages and any further relief the court grants. They are represented by Jeffrey M. Zielinski of de LUCA Levine LLC in Blue Bell.
