Borrower owes for student debt, government alleges

PHILADELPHIA — The federal government is suing West Chester resident Robert Carey, alleging failure to repay a student loan.

The United State of America filed a complaint on Aug. 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Carey, alleging indebtedness to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that United State of America suffered monetary damages due to unpaid debt. The plaintiff holds Carey responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay the plaintiff despite its demand.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount of $129,244.52 plus interest, court costs and any further relief until paid in full. It is represented by Zane David Memeger, Margaret L. Hutchinson, Virginia R. Powel and Anthony St. Joseph of the U.S. Attorney's Office.
