PHILADELPHIA — The federal government is suing James Desanto, an Upper Darby resident, alleging failure to repay student debt.

The United States of America filed a complaint on Aug. 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Desanto, alleging indebetedness to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the United States of America suffered monetary damages due to unpaid debt. The plaintiff holds Desanto responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay the plaintiff despite its demand.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount of $35,072.30 plus interest, court costs and any further relief until paid in full. It is represented by Zane David Memeger, Margaret L. Hutchinson, Virginia R. Powel and Anthony St. Joseph of the U.S. Attorney's Office.
