Woman says Washington Hospital owes her for unused sick time

PITTSBURGH — A former employee is suing Washington Health System a/k/a Washington Hospital, alleging violation of wage laws.

Debra Jurik Jones filed a complaint on Aug. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Washington Health System, alleging that the employer failed to pay her for accumulated sick time upon her termination from employment.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, between November 1982 and June 2014, she accumulated 576 hours of sick time that was not paid upon her termination. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to meet an obligation to pay her for the unused sick time.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant for damages in an amount that exceeds $75,000. She is represented by Neil J. Marcus of Neil J. Marcus, Esquire in Monongahela.
