PITTSBURGH — A former employee is suing Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania and CEO Patricia A. Burkart, alleging violation of the Family and Medical Leave Act and retaliation.

Ludwick John Krunszyinsky filed a complaint on Sept. 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against the defendants, alleging that they interfered with plaintiff's rights to FMLA leave.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in March, he asked for FMLA leave due to a medical condition concerning his eye, but was terminated despite having sufficient evidence regarding his condition. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly terminating him despite the fact that he was on approved FMLA leave.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages for lost front and back pay, lost pension benefits, medical expenses, interest, liquidated damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Lawrence D. Kerr and Claire E. Throckmorton of Tremba, Kinney, Greiner & Kerr, LLC in Greensburg.
