Lincoln National Life Insurance Company accused of breaching contract

Insurance 03

PITTSBURGH — A woman's lawsuit alleges she was improperly denied long-term disability benefits.

Jennifer Basinger filed a complaint on Sept. 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against The Lincoln National Life Insurance Company alleging that the insurer committed breach of contract by denying her claim for long-term disability benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in February 2014, she became disabled and was initially being paid disability benefits until they were terminated in December 2014.

The plaintiff holds The Lincoln National Life Insurance Company responsible because the insurer allegedly upheld its decision to deny further payment to the plaintiff for disability benefits despite her continuing disability according to the terms of the plan.

The plaintiff seeks all relief she is entitled to under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Brian Patrick Bronson of QuatriniRafferty, P.C. in Greensburg.
