TransUnion, Equifax, others accused of reporting incorrect credit information

PHILADELPHIA — A woman is suing credit reporting agencies, citing alleged negligence and negligent misrepresentation.

Crystal N. Demetro filed a complaint on Sept. 23, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against TransUnion LLC, Equifax Information Services LLC, ARS Account Resolution Services LLC, Jefferson Capital Systems LLC, CBE Group Inc. and Afni Inc., alleging that they reported false and inaccurate information regarding her credit history.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she has suffered damages to her credit reputation, including being denied credit extensions and various loans. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to review her credit history to make sure that they were reporting accurate information to third parties.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, statutory damages, punitive damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Mark D. Mailman, John Soumilas and Geoffrey H. Baskerville of Francis & Mailman, P.C. in Philadelphia.
