PITTSBURGH — A married couple from New Castle have filed a lawsuit against Central Heating and Plumbing Co. Inc., A.O. Smith Corporation and Bradford White Corporation, alleging negligence in connection with serious burn injuries.

Jerry Foster, a former property manager of an apartment building, and his wife, Artishia Foster filed a complaint on Sept. 21, in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against the defendants alleging that a boiler and storage tank were improperly maintained.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Oct. 16, 2014, Jerry Foster suffered severe burns when he was doused with superheated water and steam while attempting to fix a plumbing problem. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible for the burn injuries due to alleged negligence regarding the condition of the hot water system.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional limits of this court, plus court costs, interest and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by Peter D. Friday and Joshua S. Licata of Friday & Cox LLC in Pittsburgh.
