State Farm Fire and Casualty Company blames roofer for rain damage inside home

PITTSBURGH — An insurance firm is suing 1HBG Contracting LLC, a roofing contractor, alleging breach of contract.

State Farm Fire and Casualty Company, as subrogee of Teresa Ashley and Brian Ashley, filed a complaint on Oct. 12 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against 1HBG Contracting LLC, alleging that the contractor failed to properly perform its work in a workmanlike manner on the Ashleys' property.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages on behalf of Teresa Ashley and Brian Ashley due to damages at their home. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly leaving the interior of the home exposed to the weather during a roofing job, resulting in rain damage.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in the amount of $155,556.62. It is represented by Christopher P. Deegan of Weber Gallagher Simpson Stapleton Fires & Newby LLP in Pittsburgh.
