Man alleges Ametek wrongfully terminated him for taking leave

Wrongful term 12

ERIE – A Cokeburg man claims his employer penalized him for taking time off to care for his wife.

Jeremy O'Dell filed a complaint on Nov. 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Ametek Inc. citing the Family and Medical Leave Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2015, he took six days off to care for his wife following her surgery. The plaintiff holds Ametek Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly penalized him for taking the time off and terminated him in March.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks loss of wages of more than $20,000, front pay, compensatory and punitive damages, court costs and interest plus any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Sean L. Ruppert of Kraemer, Manes & Associates LLC in Pittsburgh.
