Pennsylvania American Water Company hydrants allegedly failed as house burned

PITTSBURGH — A woman is suing Pennsylvania American Water Company, the Municipality of Bethel Park and John Does 1-2, alleging fire hydrants failed to work properly.

Deborah S. Johnson filed a complaint on Oct. 26 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against the defendants, alleging that they failed to properly maintain and inspect the fire hydrants.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that her house burned down after firefighters were unable to get sufficient water from three separate hydrants. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to properly check for any defects in the water lines.

The plaintiff seeks actual damages, compensatory damages, interest, treble damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Joseph D. Pometto of Joseph D. Pometto, Esq. in Pittsburgh.
