Fidelity and Deposit Co. of Maryland accuses Erie companies of breaching agreement

PHILADELPHIA – A Schaumburg, Illinois, financial company alleges several Erie-based construction companies did not uphold their agreement.

Fidelity and Deposit Co. of Maryland filed a complaint on Nov. 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Amthor Steel Inc., Carrara Steel Inc., Carrara Steel Erectors Inc. and others, alleging breach of agreements of indemnity.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Fidelity and Deposit Co. of Maryland suffered monetary damages. The plaintiff says the defendants allegedly breached their agreement with plaintiff by failing to indemnify it against all liability for losses and expenses incurred by it for executing bonds on their behalf.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds $120,000 plus interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. It is represented by William J. Taylor and Craig H. O'Neill of White and Williams LLP in Philadelphia.
