Married couple blame railroad for workplace injuries

HARRISBURG — A married couple's lawsuit against Norfolk Southern Corporation alleging negligence, liability and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Christian Buffington and Jennifer Buffington filed a complaint on Dec. 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against Norfolk Southern Corporation, alleging that the employer failed to provide a safe working environment.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Dec. 14, 2014, Christian Buffington sustained physical injuries while performing his duties as an employee of Norfolk Southern. The plaintiffs holds Norfolk Southern Corporation responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain a train so it was free of a hazardous condition.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendant in an amount that exceeds $150,000 for compensatory damages, plus interest, court costs and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by Samuel J. Rosenthal of Barish Rosenthal in Philadelphia.
