Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield accused of wrongly denying payment

Insurance 04

PITTSBURGH — A woman is suing Highmark Inc., d/b/a Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, alleging breach of contract by the insurer.

Jennifer A. Leibfreid filed a complaint on Dec. 12, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against the defendant, alleging that the insurance company failed to cover for the plaintiff's dental procedure.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she suffered damages due to the denial, claiming she was told before dental surgery that insurance would pay for it, then was told after the procedure that it was not covered. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly refusing to pay for a procedure it should have covered.

The plaintiff seeks all benefits due and owing plus interest, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Francis M. Moore of Mansmann & Moore, LLP in Pittsburgh.
