Freedom Heating & Air Conditioning alleged to owe more than $170,000 to labor union funds

Contract 04

PHILADELPHIA – An Ottsville employer is alleged to have defaulted on a bargaining agreement with a labor union's funds.

Sheet Metal Workers' Local 19, Sheet Metal Workers' Health & Welfare Fund of Local No. 19, et al. filed a complaint on Dec. 19, 2017, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Freedom Heating & Air Conditioning, also known as Freedom Mechanical, and Michael McStravick citing the Labor Management Relations Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs and defendants are parties to a collective bargaining agreement.

The plaintiffs hold Freedom Heating & Air Conditioning and McStravick responsible because the defendants allegedly breached their bargaining agreement with the plaintiffs by failing to remit their employees' monthly contributions.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendant in the amount of $174,572.42 plus court costs, interest at the rate of 4.25 percent, and any further relief the court grants. They are represented by Syretta Jasmine Martin of Spear Wilderman PC in Philadelphia.
