Former Aria Health employee alleges she was terminated for taking medical leave

Wrongful term 03

PHILADELPHIA – A Fairless Hills woman claims that her Levittown employer terminated her in retaliation for taking a medical leave.

Sharon Greenberg filed a complaint on Jan. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Aria Health alleging violation of the Family and Medical Leave Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed as an office manager and took a leave of absence from Sept. 5 to Nov. 2, 2017, to undergo surgery and physical therapy for carpel tunnel syndrome. The suit states she was terminated Nov. 2, 2017, which was the same day she returned to work.

The plaintiff holds Aria Health responsible because the defendant allegedly retaliated against her for taking a medical leave.

The plaintiff seeks compensation and reimbursement, liquidated damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Manali Arora and Richard S. Swartz of Swartz Swidler LLC in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
