Unions file suit against American Water Works Service Co. over employee discipline dispute

PITTSBURGH – A Peters Township company is alleged to have disciplined employees without just cause.

J. Kevin Booth, individually and as trustee ad litem for Utility Workers Union of America; AFL-CIO; System Local No. 537 filed a complaint on Jan. 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against American Water Works Service Co. alleging violation of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that there is a violation of contract between them and the defendant. They allege in July 2017, Michael Sannikov was discharged and Bridget Adams was suspended from their employment with the defendant without just cause.

The plaintiffs seek promptly restore Sannikov to the position of employment, require the defendant to pay Sannikov plus all benefits, pay Adams all sums and benefits, court costs, and any further relief the court grants. They are represented by Samuel J. Pasquarelli of Sherrard, German & Kelly PC in Pittsburgh.
