Malibu Media LLC alleges movies were distributed without its consent

PHILADELPHIA – A California company alleges a BitTorrent user unlawfully distributed its movies online.

Malibu Media LLC filed a complaint on Dec. 8, 2017, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against John Doe subscriber assigned IP address 68.80.205.163 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered monetary damages from having its motion pictured copied and distributed without its consent. It alleges it used geolocation technology to trace the defendant's IP address to a physical address in the jurisdiction of this court.

The plaintiff holds John Doe subscriber assigned IP address 68.80.205.163 responsible because the defendant allegedly used the BitTorrent software to download and make copies of plaintiff's media files and distributed them to other users using the same platform.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendant from further infringing plaintiff's copyrighted works, order the defendant to permanently delete all digital media files relating to the plaintiff's works, statutory damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. It is represented by Alfred Jordan Rushie of Rushie Law PLLC in Philadelphia.
