PITTSBURGH – A Glassport minor and his parent are seeking damages from an animal control agency after the minor was bitten by a cat later determined to be infected with rabies.

Brandon Inks, a minor by Jennifer Inks, his maternal parent and guardian and Jennifer Inks, individually, filed a complaint on Feb. 21 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against Gaydos-Behanna Kennel and Robin Gaydos-Behanna alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that Brandon Inks was bitten by a black cat while trying to protect the family dog from it. The suit states it was later determined that the cat was infected with rabies by the Allegheny County Health Department. The suit also states the cat had a history of attacks on other individuals and that the defendants had been contacted previously about the cat.

The plaintiffs hold Gaydos-Behanna Kennel, and Robin Gaydos-Behanna responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to follow standard industry practices and proper procedures of collection or capturing stray felines.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendant in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of the court. They are represented by Gary J. Ogg, David Kennedy Houck and Eve M. Elsen of Ogg, Murphy & Perkosky PC in Pittsburgh.
