PITTSBURGH – A Westmoreland County consumer alleges a debt collector made her private financial account number easily accessible to the public.

Christina M. Gazda filed a complaint on Feb. 28 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against Barclays Bank Delaware and The Law Offices of Frederic I. Weinberg & Associates PC citing the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, intrusion upon seclusion and other counts.

According to the complaint, the defendants filed a collection action against the plaintiff in attempt to collect an alleged debt. She alleges the defendants provided unredacted documents that contained her full financial account number and that papers filed with the court are public record.

The plaintiff holds Barclays Bank Delaware and The Law Offices of Frederic I. Weinberg & Associates PC responsible because the defendants allegedly violated state code by filing documents that contained her financial account number.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, statutory damages, punitive damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Thomas N. Papadakos and Mark G. Moynihan of Moynihan Law PC in Pittsburgh.
