Aetna Life Insurance alleged to have wrongfully denied disability benefits claim

Insurance 02

PHILADELPHIA – A Jenkintown woman alleges her claim for disability benefits was wrongfully denied.

Natalie Sherstyuk filed a complaint on Feb. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Aetna Life Insurance Co. alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff filed a claim for long-term disability benefits with the defendant, which it denied in March 2015. The suit states appeals of this decision were also denied.

The plaintiff holds Aetna Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly and adequately investigate the merits of the plaintiff's claim.

The plaintiff seeks payment of long-term disability benefits due to her, reinstatement to the plan, court costs, interest and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Marc H. Snyder and Kellyanne P. Inverso of Rosen, Moss, Snyder & Bleefeld LLP in Jenkintown.
