Man seeks reinstatement of disability benefits from Aetna Life Insurance

Insurance 08

PHILADELPHIA – A former employee of Aker Philadelphia Shipyard alleges his insurer wrongfully terminated his long-term disability benefits.

Albert Antoni filed a complaint on Feb. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Aetna Life Insurance Co. alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was employed by Aker Philadelphia Shipyard and became disabled because of sickness. He alleges he made a claim to the defendant in November 2014 for disability benefits and the defendant terminated the claim in November 2016.

The plaintiff holds Aetna Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly and adequately investigate the merits of his disability claim.

The plaintiff seeks payment of long-term disability benefits due to him, reinstatement to the plan, court costs, interest and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Marc H. Snyder and Kellyanne Inservo of Rosen, Moss, Snyder & Bleefeld LLP in Jenkintown.
