PITTSBURGH – An Apollo woman alleges her former employer failed to keep accurate time records and did not pay her for all hours worked.

Annette Lanning filed a complaint on behalf of herself and other similarly situated employees on Feb. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Petco Animal Supplies Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Pennsylvania Minimum Wage Act and the Pennsylvania Wage Payment and Collection Law.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff worked for the defendant as a groomer at its Gibsonia store from June 2016 to October 2017. She alleges she regularly worked more than 40 hours per week and the defendant altered her time records by deleting hours recorded "in order to reduce the recorded hours and, in turn, reduce pay (straight time and overtime) owed." She alleges one way the defendant did this was by deducting time for lunch breaks even if the breaks were not taken.

The plaintiff holds Petco Animal Supplies Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay overtime compensation and failed to maintain accurate time records.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks pay unpaid overtime compensation, liquidated damages, unpaid non-overtime wages, interest, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Joseph H. Chivers of Employment Rights Group in Pittsburgh.
