Patient files malpractice suit against Allegheny Health Network, others

Medical malpractice 03

PITTSBURGH – A Carnegie couple allege the negligence of several health care entities caused the wife to suffer injuries after a surgery.

Lisa D. Castillo and Edward Castillo filed a complaint on March 6 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against Allegheny Health Network, West Penn Allegheny Health System Inc., et al. alleging medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, Lisa D. Castillo underwent a laparoscopic repair of a hernia and other procedures at West Penn on March 9, 2016. The suit states while there, she was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia and other medical ailments because of the defendants' negligence.

The plaintiffs hold Allegheny Health Network, West Penn Allegheny Health System Inc., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to prevent Lisa D. Castillo from aspirating and failed to promptly treat her for aspiration.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants in an amount of more than $35,000. They are represented by Regis M. McClelland of The McClelland Law Group PC in Pittsburgh.
