Life Insurance Company of North America allegedly refused to provide insurance benefits

Insurance 08

PITTSBURGH — A Pennsylvania woman is suing Life Insurance Company of North America and Valley National Bank Long Term Disability Plan for alleged breach of contract.

Robin Riglian filed a complaint on March 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendants refused to provide her with insurance benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was unable to continue working due to several medical conditions, including chronic pain from degenerative disc disease and bulging discs. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly initially approving her insurance benefits, and then later terminating said benefits even though she allegedly was still eligible for them.

The plaintiff seeks an order declaring that she is entitled to receive past-due benefits, retroactive LTD benefits, court costs, interest and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by John Stember of Stember Cohn & Davidson-Welling LLC in Pittsburgh, Pa. and Gregory G. Paul of Morgan & Paul PLLC in Pittsburgh, Pa.
