PHILADELPHIA — An individual is suing Witmer Public Safety Group Inc. for alleged wrongful termination.
Kristen Gummel filed a complaint on March 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendant terminated her employment 11 days after providing her with paperwork related to her application for leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was terminated from her job in 2017 despite allegedly having sufficient medical documents to support her FMLA application. Even though the defendant allegedly rescinded her termination, the plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly violating her rights under the FMLA.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant for back pay and benefits, interest, liquidated damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Derrek W. Cummings, Steve T. Mahan, and Larry A. Weisberg of McCarthy Weisberg Cummings P.C. in Harrisburg.
