PHILADELPHIA — An individual is suing Sterling Infosystems Inc. d/b/a Sterling Backcheck for alleged violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Marvin Mitchell filed a complaint on March 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendant reported inaccurate information about him.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he suffered damages to his credit score due to the statements that allegedly were reported in his consumer report. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly reporting inaccurate information about him, including a criminal conviction that had been overturned by the court.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, actual damages, punitive damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Mark D. Mailman and Geoffrey H. Baskerville of Francis & Mailman P.C. in Philadelphia.
