Children's Community Pediatrics allegedly failed to provide proper anti-malarial drug

Medical malpractice 04

PITTSBURGH — An individual is suing James A. Shaver and Children's Community Care t/d/b/a Children's Community Pediatrics for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Logan Harper filed a complaint on March 29 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, alleging that the defendants failed to provide him with proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was infected with malaria while traveling in Ghana, which allegedly caused him to sustain physical injuries. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly giving him Chloroquine to use while he was in Ghana even though the malaria parasites there allegedly are resistant to it.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants for compensatory damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Gregory R. Unatin of Meyers Evans Lupetin & Unatin LLC in Pittsburgh.
