Monroeville Giant Eagle allegedly failed to keep premises safe

PITTSBURGH — An individual is suing Giant Eagle Inc. d/b/a Monroeville Giant Eagle for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

LaVonda Helvy filed a complaint on March 29 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, alleging that the defendant failed to keep its premises reasonably safe.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she sustained serious physical injuries on Sept. 3 when she allegedly slipped and fell on water that allegedly was left on the floor near a cash register. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to remove the wet substance from the floor or provide adequate warning.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount that exceeds $35,000, plus court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Marc I. Simon of Simon & Simon P.C. in Pittsburgh.
