PITTSBURGH — Two individuals are suing Toyota Motor Corporation, Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc., Toyota Motor North America Inc., Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America Inc., Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky Inc. and Three Rivers Motor Car Company t/d/b/a Three Rivers Volkswagen for alleged negligence.

Dane and Natasa Banovic filed a complaint on March 29 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, alleging that the defendants failed to properly design and manufacture their vehicle to make sure that it was free of defects.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that Dane Banovic sustained severe physical injuries on Dec. 14, 2016 when his vehicle allegedly accelerated while being parked in a garage. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to remedy the defects of his Toyota Camry despite allegedly knowing that it was prone to sudden acceleration due to the design of its accelerator and brake pedals.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court, plus punitive damages and court costs. They are represented by Alexander J. Jamiolkowski of Egan & Jamiolkowski in Pittsburgh and John J. Zagari of Zagari Law Office in Pittsburgh.
