PHILADELPHIA — An African-American employee is suing Lehigh University for allegedly subjecting her to discrimination and a hostile work environment.

Angela Scott Ferencin filed a complaint on April 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendant subjected her to unlawful employment practices.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was forced to quit her job at the university due to intolerable working conditions and to protect herself from discriminatory abuse. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly subjecting her to adverse employment actions by reducing her rank from Director of Academic Diversity and Outreach to Program Director, Community Education Initiative.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of the court, plus litigation costs, attorney's fees and all further relief the court deems necessary. She is represented by attorney E. Daniel Larkin in Merion Station, Pa.
