PHILADELPHIA — An individual is suing the City of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Police Officer Christopher Hulmes and three unknown officers for allegedly fabricating evidence and testimony.
James Butler filed a complaint on April 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendants violated his constitutional rights.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was arrested on July 12, 2012 for narcotics and other related offenses that he did not commit. Due to the defendants' alleged misconduct, he allegedly was forced to plead guilty to the charges and was sentenced to one to two years in prison. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly fabricating and misrepresenting information to authorities and the court.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages and all further relief to which he is entitled. He is represented by Michael Pileggi of Law Office of Michael Pileggi in Philadelphia.
