PHILADELPHIA — A former inmate is suing the City of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Police Officer Christopher Hulmes and three unknown police officers for allegedly fabricating evidence.
Demil Coley filed a complaint on April 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendants violated his constitutional rights.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was arrested on July 11, 2012 for narcotics and weapons-related offenses that he did not commit. Due to the defendants' alleged misconduct, he was incarcerated from July 2012 to March 2014 followed by three months of house arrest before he was acquitted in December 2014. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly fabricating and misrepresenting information provided to the authorities and in court under oath.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages and all further relief to which he is entitled. He is represented by Michael Pileggi in Philadelphia.
