HARRISBURG — An individual is suing Intertek York-Building Products & Building Services and other companies for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Douglas K. Volkmann filed a complaint on an unknown date in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendants failed to maintain a reasonably safe work environment.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was performing architectural services on a construction site that was being controlled by the defendants on April 15, 2016 when he allegedly was struck in the head by a 600-pound pipe. The plaintiff claims that he suffered severe and debilitating injuries to his head and neck, a laceration on his scalp and cervical and thoracic sprains. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to properly train their employees and adequately oversee and inspect the worksite.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages in excess of the statutory limits for arbitration. He is represented by Lawrence Cohan and David J. Carney of Anapol Weiss in Philadelphia.
