Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem allegedly fired employee in retaliation for requesting FMLA-protected leave

PHILADELPHIA — A former cocktail server is suing Sands Bethworks Gaming LLC d/b/a Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem for alleged retaliation and wrongful termination.

Sarah Kline filed a complaint on April 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendant violated the Family and Medical Leave Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was fired on Jan. 17, 2017 after requesting and being approved for FMLA-protected leave. As a result, she claims that she suffered financial damages. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly retaliating against her by allegedly firing her in response to her request for FMLA-protected leave.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, attorney's fees, costs and any other fair and proper relief. She is represented by Matthew D. O'Donnell of Maloney, Danyi & O'Donnell in Bethlehem, Pa.
