HARRISBURG — A woman is suing her former employer, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, for allegedly firing her while she was on medical leave.

Julie D. Valora filed a complaint on April 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendant violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was fired because of her disability. As a result, she alleges that she has suffered financial damages and lost her medical insurance. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly firing her while she was on medical leave, wrongfully interfering with her ability to take medical leave, failing to provide her with reasonable accommodation and retaliating against her by terminating her employment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in a fair and reasonable amount, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, litigation fees and the costs and expenses of this action. She is represented by Amy H. Marshall of Babst, Calland, Clements and Zomnir PC in State College.
